Mentor develops, manufactures, and markets a range of products serving the aesthetic medicine market, including plastic and reconstructive surgery. Cosmetic products include surgically implantable prostheses for plastic and reconstructive surgery, capital equipment and consumables used for soft tissue aspiration or body contouring (liposuction), and facial aesthetics products. The broad line of breast implants includes saline-filled implants and silicone gel filled (MemoryGel) implants sold in international markets and began selling in Canada and U.S. after receiving regulatory approvals in the fiscal 2007 third quarter. The company carries a full line of breast reconstruction products that include the Contour Profile Tissue Expander family of breast expanders for two-stage procedures and offers a line of extremity tissue expanders. The company markets its body contouring products through its subsidiary, Byron Medical, Inc. The company's third category in the aesthetic medicine products line is other aesthetics, which include Mentor Solutions and Facial Aethetics. The Mentor Solutions group offers software, consulting, and business management tools to help plastic surgeons grow their business. In the Facial Aesthetics area, the company sells its hyaluronic acid dermal filler product called Puragen in international markets and through a signed agreement began distributing Niadyne's NIA 24 line of science-based cosmeceutical products used to improve and restore the healthy appearance of the skin in the fiscal 2007 first quarter. For the fiscal year 2007, breast implants, body contouring, and other aesthetics contributed 87%, 6%, and 7%, respectively to total net sales.
