Mortgages grew by 16% yoy to 18.2 billion. Disbursements of new mortgages in the 9 months of 2008 amounted to 2.7 billion, reinforcing NBGs supremacy in this key sector of the domestic market.
· Consumer loan and credit card balances grew by 26% to 6.5 billion. In Q3 2008 disbursements of new consumer loans exceeded 1.5 billion, up 43% yoy. Likewise, the number of new credit cards grew as a result of successful marketing and sales campaigns in recent months.
· In addition, lending to SBLs grew by 21% to 3.9 billion in Q3 2008, coupled with a broadening of the number of NBG partner businesses.
Furthermore, lending to corporates also posted impressive growth of 26% yoy to 15.8 billion, exceeding for the first time retail lending growth rates, thereby affirming NBGs leading role in financing Greek business.
