This excerpt taken from the NTES 20-F filed Jun 29, 2006. 19. Segment Information In the third quarter of 2003, the Group changed the manner of reporting internal departmental information. The following are the breakdowns of revenue for the years ended December 31, 2003, 2004 and 2005 and cost of revenue for the years ended December 31, 2003, 2004 and 2005. The Group does not allocate any operating costs or assets to its business segments as management does not use this information to measure the performance of the operating segments. The Groups total revenues as previously reported in its financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2003 (prior to the adoption of FIN 46 and consolidation of VIEs) is equivalent to the Groups total net revenues as reported in its financial statements for the years ended December 31, 2004 and 2005 (after the adoption of FIN 46 and consolidation of the VIEs prospectively). Both total revenues in 2003 and total net revenues in 2004 and 2005 represent gross revenue receivable from final customers, net of business tax payable by the VIEs.
