Novatel Wireless (NASDAQ:NVTL), a leading provider of wireless broadband solutions, today announced that its industry-leading HSPA+ modems have received industry compliance from the Global Certification Forum (GCF). GCF is an active partnership between network operators, device manufacturers and the test industry that provides an independent program to ensure global interoperability.

GCF compliance involved several hundred product lab test cases and extensive field trials that measured the performance of the Ovation MC996D and MC998D on different 3G networks in Europe. The testing conducted to achieve GCF certification ensures that the Ovation MC996D and MC998D products will have the highest reliability and functionality on HSPA+ mobile networks throughout the world, and that the products have been designed, manufactured and tested to an agreed standard.

HSPA+ is the next evolution of high-speed packet access (HSPA) wireless broadband technology with greater capacity for data throughput compared to current 3G networks. The Ovation MC996D and MC998D products offer peak data speeds of up to 21.6 Mbps on the downlink and 5.76 Mbps on the uplink. These products can be upgraded via firmware to support peak download speeds of up to 28 Mbps.
