Cupertino, California-based Packeteer, Inc. (PKTR) is a provider of network appliances and software that enhance application performances over enterprise wide area networks (WAN) and the Internet. An enterprise WAN is a computer communications network that extends beyond a single location or office. The company's application-adaptive bandwidth management solutions give businesses control of bandwidth at congested WAN access links, helping service providers and enterprises connect high-speed local area networks (LAN) with wide area backbone networks by removing bottlenecks. The various traffic management solutions provided by Packeteer include PacketShaper for WAN management, iShared for use in the branch offices, the SkyX Accelerator for long-range satellite communications, and Talon TC30 for Internet and WAN management. Packeteer also provides software acceleration solutions and provides users with centralized management software services, which generate reports, graphs, and tables to enable users to set up bandwidth policies, evaluate efficiency, and plan capacity. Geographically, the company generated 45.0% of 2007 revenue from the Americas, 25.0% from Asia Pacific, and 30.0% from Europe, Middle East, and Africa.
