This excerpt taken from the PBR 6-K filed Apr 7, 2006. Petrobras denies occupation of Bolivian fields (Rio de Janeiro, April 7, 2006). PETRÓLEO BRASILEIRO S/A - PETROBRAS, [Bovespa: PETR3/PETR4, NYSE: PBR/PBRA, Latibex: XPBR/XPBRA], a Brazilian international energy company, announces that the San Alberto and San Antonio fields in Bolivia continue operating and their respective installations remain intact. Contrary to reports today, the two fields have not been occupied. Petrobras confirms that groups of demonstrators are blocking roads in the region, adversely affecting work on repairing the Companys oil pipeline in addition to lines operated by other companies damaged due to the rains. Since last weekend, it has been raining torrentially in the Bolivian Chaco region. Strong-flowing floodwater has uncovered some parts of the pipeline operated by Petrobras, damaging a stretch of approximately 800 meters. |
