Entrepreneur & Princeton Review Name Simmons School of Management's Entrepreneurship Program 'One of Nation's Best'

Simmons Entrepreneurship Program Ranked Among Top 25 in America

BOSTON, Sept. 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Simmons School of Management's entrepreneurship program has been named one of the 25 best programs in the nation by Entrepreneur magazine and The Princeton Review, which jointly surveyed more than 2,300 schools.

The Simmons entrepreneurship program was one of only two MBA programs ranked in the top 25 in New England within the graduate program category.

The ranking will appear in the October issue of Entrepreneur magazine, which is now on sale at newsstands. Recently, the Simmons School of Management received accreditation from the prestigious Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International. The school also was featured in Forbes.com and CNN.com, which highlighted its cutting-edge research that disputes the notion that women are risk-averse.

"We are extremely proud to receive this national recognition," said Simmons School of Management Dean Deborah Merrill-Sands. "We've built a robust program with a visionary curriculum. The program is distinguished by the dynamic engagement of entrepreneurs and experts in fields, such as law, finance, and strategy, to ensure a real-world, intense learning experience for students who want to launch and grow new ventures -- whether in the for-profit or not-for-profit sectors."

The national program rankings by Entrepreneur magazine and The Princeton Review were evaluated based on key criteria in the areas of teaching business fundamentals in the classroom, staffing their departments with successful entrepreneurs, and providing experiential or entrepreneurial opportunities outside of the classroom. The Simmons program achieves success in these measures through its live case study methodology, entrepreneur-in-residence program, Silverman Business Plan Competition, mentoring program, and a 225-hour practicum that matches students with entrepreneurs around high-profile projects. The school's view of entrepreneurship encompasses traditional start-ups, high growth firms, social entrepreneurship ventures, and corporate change efforts. The school is expanding its undergraduate program in entrepreneurship, capitalizing on its success at the graduate level.

The joint efforts of The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur magazine bring together The Princeton Review's expertise in research and education with Entrepreneur magazine's expertise in the challenges and opportunities facing entrepreneurs today.
