Quest Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: QSFT) today announced valuable updates to its SharePoint management products, Quest Recovery Manager and Quest Site Administrator for SharePoint. Both products streamline SharePoint administration and recovery, and further protect user access.
With the new version of Recovery Manager for SharePoint, performance during recovery from native or Quest LiteSpeed® for SQL Server backups is significantly increased. This new rapid restore feature reduces infrastructure and storage space, saving money by eliminating the need for temporary backups and additional storage. In addition, Recovery Manager for SharePoint now supports Symantec Backup Exec, and other platforms including NetBackup, Microsoft Data Protection Manager, and Tivoli Storage Manager for Databases.
Site Administrator for SharePoint was updated to include new critical permissions management features that clean up deleted Active Directory accounts. In addition, its robust search capabilities display effective SharePoint user permissions, helping to ensure security. A Web-based information portal was also added to generate drillable enterprise-level reports.
“Managing SharePoint technologies can be a challenge for administrators who need intuitive tools to provide a seamless service to the business,” said Doug Davis, director of product management, SharePoint Solutions, Quest Software. “Recovery Manager for SharePoint helps meet the business need for SharePoint recovery without having to change existing backup strategies, while Site Administrator for SharePoint provides critical tools for permissions, reporting, policy settings and auditing.”
Demonstrations of Recovery Manager for SharePoint and Site Administrator for SharePoint are available at the Microsoft SharePoint Conference 2009 in Las Vegas today through Oct. 22 at Quest booth 221. In addition, attendees can meet SharePoint expert Joel Oleson at 12:15 p.m. today, at the Quest booth, and receive an autographed copy of Michael Sampson’s book, “SharePoint Roadmap for Collaboration,” with a foreword written by Oleson.
