Rep. Loretta Sanchez, Rosetta Stone Team Up to Support U.S. and the World Education Act

Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (CA-47) today announced that Rosetta Stone Inc. (NYSE:RST), a leading provider of technology-based language learning solutions, has endorsed the U.S. and the World Education Act, legislation she recently introduced that will encourage and expand international education and foreign language programs in America’s schools. Rosetta Stone joins over 33 organizations in supporting Rep. Sanchez’s legislation, which would provide grant funding for educational programs that promote international enrichment for elementary and secondary school students and their teachers.

“I firmly believe that our students need a deeper knowledge of foreign languages and cultures to not only compete, but thrive in an increasingly global economy,” said Rep. Sanchez. “Rosetta Stone and other organizations will be critical partners in promoting language-learning and international education in our schools. I am thrilled to have their support as we strive to make better, smarter investments in America’s children and their teachers.”

“We are extremely pleased to align with Rep. Sanchez on the H.R. 3359 U.S. and World Education Act to promote the value of language learning in the U.S.,” said Tom Adams, president and CEO, Rosetta Stone Inc. “By harnessing technology and promoting innovation, we can empower educators and help make the youth of America true global citizens.”

The U.S. and the World Education Act strives to address the growing education gap separating children in America from their counterparts in other industrialized countries. Rep. Sanchez’s bill would provide grants to support international education and foreign language programs for students. It would also provide funding for professional development programs to ensure America’s teachers are equipped with the skills they need to give our students a solid foundation in world history, international relations, foreign languages, and global economics.
