MCLEAN, Va. and SAN DIEGO, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) today announced that its small business strategy has yielded a record level of small business utilization for Government Fiscal Year 2009 (GFY 09), which ended in September. During GFY 09, SAIC awarded approximately $2 billion in subcontracts to small businesses, reflecting a 21 percent increase from last year. These initiatives include free training provided to small businesses by SAIC in areas including business and proposal development, pricing, and program management.
"The success of small businesses is vital to our nation's economic growth and prosperity," said Arnold Punaro, SAIC executive vice president of Government Affairs, Communications and Support Operations. "We are pleased to be a recognized leader in small business utilization and will continue to support the growth and development of these companies."
