SUEZ SA (SUEZ) (NYSE:SZE)is organized in four operational branches in its two lines of business: Energy and Environment. The Electricity & Gas Europe business line covers all European activities in the gas and electricity sector, SUEZ Energy Europe (SEE). The Electricity & Gas International business line handles SUEZ activities in the gas and electricity business outside Europe, SUEZ Energy International (SEI). The Industrial and Energy Services business line performs SUEZ activities in industrial installation and maintenance services, and in energy and engineering services, SUEZ Energy Services (SES). The SUEZ Environment business line covers all of its activities in the water and cleanliness businesses. In July 2007, the Company sold its 30.53% interest in Compagnie Immobiliere de Belgique S.A. (Immobel) to JER Property Fund, a subsidiary of JER Europe Fund. In July 2007, SUEZ acquired the remaining minority interest in Electrabel N.V. As a result, SUEZ holds 100% of Electrabel N.V.
Named after the canal built by the French so long ago, Suez SA (ADR) has recently merged with Gaz de France, which is controlled by the French government. This merger creates a very large company that offers key services in France, but also around the world. Suez has always operated in the energy field, through electricity generation and gas supplies, and it also offers water distribution and waste-management services.
