2009 DILUTED EPS EXPECTED TO EXCEED 2008’s $2.65.

St. Louis, MO, July 23, 2009 – Sigma-Aldrich Corporation, a leading Life Science and High Technology company, reported second quarter 2009 diluted EPS of $0.68 compared to $0.70 in the second quarter of 2008. For the six months ended June 30, 2009, reported diluted EPS was $1.36, a 1.5% increase from the $1.34 reported for the first six months of 2008. Excluding the negative impact of currency, EPS would have been $0.79 and $1.60, a 12.9% and 19.4% increase for the second quarter and first six months of 2009, respectively.
