Edward DeBiasi Hired as Lead Consumer Trader for Susquehanna Financial Group

NEW YORK, Oct. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Susquehanna Financial Group, LLLP (SFG), the institutional broker-dealer member of the Susquehanna International Group of Companies (SIG), announced today that it has hired Edward DeBiasi as its new Lead Consumer Trader. Mr. DeBiasi will be based in the firm's New York office.

"We continue to build our best-in-class trading franchise at SFG," said Charlie Sweeney, SFG's Head of Cash Trading. "One place where we identified an opportunity was the consumer sector, and the addition of Ed DeBiasi will help us drive our relevance in the space."

Prior to joining SFG, Mr. DeBiasi was an executive director for Morgan Stanley's equity trading department, during which time he was both lead consumer trader and financial trader. Prior to Morgan Stanley, Mr. DeBiasi spent five years with ING Baring LLC as a principal in the equity trading business. Mr. DeBiasi earned his MBA from Fordham University.

Mr. DeBiasi joins two other highly branded senior traders that SFG added over the past couple months. In June, SFG hired Pat Quinn from Thomas Weisel as its senior Telecommunications, Media and Technology trader, and in July, the firm brought on Brian Knapp from JP Morgan as its senior Energy/Industrial trader.

"Identifying and hiring the right people is the most important trading we do on Wall Street," said Cory Carlesimo, SFG's Head of Cash Equities. "Ed, like Brian Knapp and Pat Quinn, is a talented trader who has differentiated himself over his career through a deep understanding of how to add value and service clients. We are excited to have Ed on the team."

Building upon its best-in-class derivative platform, SFG continues to strategically seek select top-tier industry professionals with diverse backgrounds to round out a robust institutional equity and debt client franchise. The list of notable hires in 2009 includes Cory Carlesimo as Head of Cash Equities (formerly with Deutsche Bank); Charlie Sweeney as Head of Cash Equity Trading (formerly with Deutsche Bank); Frank Gilroy as Head of Corporate Bond Sales and Trading (formerly with FTN Financial); Art Oswald as Head of Research Sales (formerly with Merrill Lynch); senior equity research analysts Jeff Fidacaro (formerly with Merrill Lynch), Chuck Minervino (formerly with Goldman Sachs ), and Jonathan Casteleyn (formerly with Wachovia); Special Situations sales traders Josh Ezrin (formerly with JP Morgan), Hank Weiss (formerly with Citi), and Tom McCaffrey (formerly with Citi); and senior equity sector traders Pat Quinn (formerly with Thomas Weisel) and Brian Knapp (formerly with JP Morgan).
