ten thousand euros
In an effort to expand into the automotive industry, and given GM's financial slump, SolarWorld offered one billion Euros for GM's subsidiary, Opel. The uncertainty of solar's future with the dropping price of oil and the substantial size of the deal have left investors uneasy.
Despite promising results and predictions by SolarWorld that it would beat its 2008 earnings forecasts, the financial problems in the world market was enough to drive down share prices.
The drop was a result of mutliple world events following the drastic losses earlier in the US stock exchange. These included the drop of Iceland's currency, failure of their banks and the German plans to guarantee all private bank savings and restructure bailout plans.
