Business Profile
Sterlite Industries India (STERLITEIND) is a leading producer of copper in India. The company is a part of Vedanta Resources, a London listed metals and mining major with aluminum, copper and zinc operations in India and Australia.
The main products manufactured by STERLITEIND are copper cathodes and rods, based on technology and equipment from Continuous Properzi, Italy . It owns two mines in Tasmania and Australia, which are capable of funding approximately 240,000 DMT concentrate per year to the smelter. The smelter in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, is based on a proven energy efficient and environment friendly technology, ISA SMELT process from MIM, Australia. Anode produced by the smelter is processed in the refinery at Dadra Nagar Haveli using the same ISA process.
Sterlite Industries is a Vedanta Group company majorly operating in mining operations for non-ferrous metals. The company is primarily focussed on three commodities - copper, zinc and aluminium.
