David Mann's appointment as chairman and CEO of SunTrust Banks Inc's North Florida region could signal growth for the bank in the future. Mann has 28 years of experience in banking, much of which was spent serving different roles at SunTrust.

In 1984, Mann joined SunTrust as a commercial lender in Tampa and then spent give years at Chase Manhattan Bank in corporate middle-market lending before rejoining SunTrust in 1990 as a commercial real estate lending team leader. He has also served the role of head of special assets in Orlando, market president in Lake County, president of SunTrust's mid-Florida market and executive in charge of commercial real estate lending statewide from 2002 through 2008. According to the president and CEO of SunTrust Bank, Florida Tom Kuntz, Mann has been successful has been successful in growing the bank and its client base in every job he's had at SunTrust. As chairman and CEO of SunTrust Banks Inc's North Florida region, he's expected to do the same.

It is the kind of operation that the spanish megabank is trying to do in the area. Afer the adqusition of Compass Group, it has been announced in Spain that the Bank is looking for an important opportunity to double its size in the area. Sun Trust is the one.

The spanish bank BBVa it has announced its intention to grow in the area and to consolidate the steps given by Compass Bankshares adquisition and others. They want to spend about Eur 16.000 Million. Sun Trust's is the kind of bank that meets BBVA's philosophy, size and price and, of course, it can have an easy integration in the Group... Let's see
