development of sustainable agriculture
In the past decade there has been a paradigm shift in methodology for the generation of leads for new chemical products. The integration of genomics to identify targets and establish modes of action together with fast
high-throughput automated screens to detect leads has provided a powerful engine for lead discovery and optimization. Similarly, techniques such as toxicogenomics and environmental profiling are minimizing the attrition rate in the development
process.
We focus on improved ways to direct our research towards areas of health and environmental safety. An example of the success delivered by the process is given by CALLISTO®, which showed a favorable environmental profile and became the leading selective herbicide for corn in the United States within three years.
