Travel Holdings, Inc. Updates Mapping System, Adds Tourist Attractions

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla., Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- To provide clients, suppliers and customers with faster service, easier bookings and more well-rounded destination options on its portfolio of online travel booking web sites, Travel Holdings, Inc. has integrated a more robust mapping functionality and added an "Activities" tourist attraction section into each website property.

The mapping functionality is provided by Bing, the search-engine portal launched by Microsoft earlier this year. The Activities section will feature tickets/reservations to more than 1,300 attractions in 79 different travel destinations. For instance, for a trip to Chicago, customers can find deals on Blue Man Group tickets. In New York, customers now have access to reduced tickets for a tour of HBO's The Sopranos sites.

"Streamlining user experience brings more value to each customer visit," said Amir Kalmar, Chief Marketing Officer, Travel Holdings, Inc. "By offering the Bing mapping system, we are bringing our customers the best user experience possible and the new 'Activities' section allows travelers to better plan a fun and eventful trip."

Customers now have access to driving directions from address auto fills, offering a larger view, as well as picture-in-picture functionality, with the exception of Last Minute Travel®. At the same time, the new mapping feature will have the same great features as were previously available on all Travel Holdings' web sites: three views (road, aerial, bird's eye), and a dynamic map (which users can grab, move and zoom in/out).

All system enhancements are performed by Travel Global Systems (TGS), Tourico Holidays' sister company and technology provider. The enhancements, which are already live on Last Minute Travel® and Tourico Holidays English site, will be fully implemented across all Tourico Holidays sites by the end of 2009. Additional improvements will also be made during quarter 4, focusing on hotel partners and other travel product providers through extranet and other back-end enhancements.
