UNH settled with Katz Technology Licensing in a patent litigation case for an undisclosed sum. The firm represents a variety of patents employed by UNH in their "Automated Health Care Services."
UNH released its line up of Medicare plans for 2009. The plans, which incorporate the expanded Medicare Part D, will offer beneficiaries a wide range of cost-saving choices.
UNH Posts Q4 2007 Earnings
On August 3rd, United issued a press release noting higher-than-expected earnings from its Medicare segment.
UNH's plans to expand by a merger with the Nevada insurer Sierra Health Services were complicated as the governor of Nevada asked the state insurance commissioner to hold more hearings. The hearings could delay or prevent the anticipated merger.
United's shareprice fell as a federal judge allowed a law suit to go forward against United for its backdating. United also announced it would pay about 900 employees extra. The employees faced high taxes because of the backdating.
