Universal Electronics Appoints Carl Vogel to the Board of Directors

Universal Electronics Inc. (UEI), (NASDAQ: UEIC) announced the appointment of Carl Vogel, 52, to the Board of Directors of UEI. The addition of Vogel brings the company’s total board count to seven. Vogel is a Class II director and will be up for election at the company’s Annual Shareholders Meeting expected to take in place in June of 2010.

Vogel is a partner at SCP Worldwide, a sports, media and entertainment company that owns and operates a variety of high profile companies including the National Hockey League's St. Louis Blues and Major League Soccer's Real Salt Lake. Vogel is also a member of the Board of Directors and Audit Committee of Shaw Communications and a member of the Board of Directors of Dish Network Corporation, as well as an advisor to the chairman and CEO. He was formerly the president, CEO and director of Charter Communications. Vogel has over 25 years experience as an executive in media and telecom. Vogel’s experience ranges from structuring complex financial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, attracting necessary investment capital in both public and private markets to content creation, program network negotiations and cable and satellite network operations. Vogel has close personal relationships with the top leaders in the media and telecom sectors in North America and has a long track record of success. Vogel has a reputation for integrity, candor and independence with the investment community and is well known and respected on Wall Street and Capitol Hill.

Earning his CPA designation in 1980, Vogel graduated from St. Norbert College in DePere, Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in finance and accounting.
