At June 30, 2006, we employed 748 people, compared to 682 at June 30, 2005. At June 30, 2006, approximately 13% of our employees were covered by collective bargaining agreements. Historically, we have not been adversely affected by strikes or work stoppages. We believe that we have a skilled and motivated work force and that our relationship with employees is good.
We believe that continuing education is necessary for our employees to achieve and maintain the skills required to be effective in todays competitive environment. Our process improvement strategy includes ongoing technical training in an environment emphasizing a high level of customer service. We provide a variety of training programs to our employees through modules maintained on the Internet. This provides consistent, low-cost training across the entire organization. Key suppliers also provide employees product training relating primarily to welding and gas application technology at our various locations.
