VeriFone Smart Fuel Controller Boosts Pump Performance, Simplifies Management and Lowers Costs

VeriFone Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: PAY), the global leader in secure electronic payment solutions, today announced the Smart Fuel Controller, providing gasoline retailers simplified pump management, better performance and more cost-effective POS integration.

Today’s competitive petroleum industry requires seamless integration between the POS and fuel dispenser to deliver exceptional value at each customer pay point. VeriFone’s Smart Fuel Controller eliminates POS performance constraints inherent in some third-party pump interface devices, so that systems such as VeriFone’s Ruby and Topaz XL systems can execute forecourt transactions with the same level of performance as in-store transactions.

VeriFone’s Smart Fuel Controller integrates pay point management with in-store POS systems, while eliminating the need for a separate pump interface device and distribution box.

Smart Fuel Controller provides the flexibility to install additional pay points at the forecourt and simplifies installation and maintenance.

Smart Fuel Controller also offers flexibility to combine dispensers from multiple manufacturers at the same site. “Gasoline retailers now have a choice for dispenser and pay point control,” said Dan Yienger, vice president, VeriFone petroleum sales. “They will be able to mix and match multiple makes and models of dispensers through a single control point, support multiple POS systems and at the same time realize improved performance across their operations.”

The system provides improved site performance, including expedited price changes, fuel pump authorizations and all end-of-shift and day closing processes. Other benefits include improved cashier performance and faster customer transactions.

VeriFone provides multiple configuration options to accommodate different retailer needs and existing equipment, such as a combination pump interface and signal distribution solution, standalone pump interface device or standalone signal distribution box.

Remote access capabilities can reduce site downtime and eliminate travel for repair and maintenance by supporting remote monitoring for faster troubleshooting and diagnostics, remote software downloads and upgrades and expedited site management changes.

Accommodating the needs of large truck stops, the Smart Fuel Controller will support more than 32 fueling points and integrate fleet and retail sales and reporting capabilities onto a single platform. Merchants using fleet POS solutions for truck stop sales will be able to interface the data directly into their VeriFone POS systems for integrated reporting.

The system is available now for Gilbarco fuel dispensers and support for additional brands will be rolled out in the near future.

VeriFone’s petroleum and convenience store solutions provide unparalleled reliability and a design and architecture to accommodate changing payment needs. The Smart Fuel Controller architecture improves performance, site management and remote diagnostics.
