WMS Industries (NYSE: WMS) was founded in 1974 and achieved great success in the pinball, video arcade and home video game markets. With a demonstrated track record as a company that could "make great games", video and software technology, and manufacturing facilities, WMS' foray into gamingwas a natrural progression for the corporation. WMS started out in the video lottery terminal (VLT) business in 1991. The company created, manufactured and placed VLT's in jurisdictions throughout North America. Since 1998, WMS has been engaged entirely in the manufacture, sale, leasing and licensing of gaming machines.
2007 Results
- Total revenues grew 20% to $540 million
- Revenues from product sales increased 21% and gross profit margin rose 340 basis points to 46%
- Revenues from gaming operations grew 17% and gross profit margin increased 360 basis points to 79%
- Operating income rose 51% to $74 million and operating margin increased 280 basis points to 14%
