This excerpt taken from the DIS 10-K filed Dec 7, 2005. Information Technology Outsourcing
During the year, the Company entered into
agreements with two suppliers to outsource certain information
technology functions and support services. The transition of
services to the new suppliers began in late July 2005. The terms
of these agreements extend five to seven years with an option
for the Company to extend for an additional two to three years.
The Company will retain all responsibility and authority for
systems architecture, technology strategy, and product standards
under the agreements. Payments under these agreements are
excluded from the table above because the payments vary
depending on usage, but the Company anticipates spending
approximately $1.3 billion for these services over the next
seven years, which is less than what we estimate we would have
spent had we not outsourced these functions.
