Performance in the lodging industry is also measured by revenues earned by companies in the industry and by the number of new rooms added on a yearly basis. In 2007, the lodging industry earned revenues of $143 billion and added 141,200 new rooms. The following table demonstrates trends in revenues and new rooms:
