I am a big fan of CEO Antonio Perez. However, Kodak has missed the boat when it comes to digital photo sharing and other areas that they should have dominated. With regard to photo sharing and storage services, companies like Shutterfly, Snapfish (HP), and SmugMug have got the jump on them. However, Kodak's EasyShareGallery (formerly Ofoto) is gaining some traction. Add comments or discussion related to this suggestion here. Hollywood is not known for being innovative. Rather, one should look at the porn industry (read Eric Schlosser's "Reefer Madness: Sex, Drugs, and Cheap Labor in the American Black Market") to see that the world of movies is going digital. Given the increasing sophistication of CCD sensors and other imaging technology, there's little reason to doubt that digital film making will be able to replicate the effects of film. Thus, Kodak will lose that source of revenue as well or they're anticipating this trend and are developing appropriate products. Add comments or discussion related to this suggestion here. |
