McClatchy Company (MNI)

I just wrote a Bear piece on McClatchy (MNI) and I just wanted to get folks going on an article on McClatchy.

I am not a big expert on the history of McClatchy and there is no reason to repeat so much of what is out on the Web summarizing them.

This is a big newspaper chain, based in Sacramento where its roots are, but spread across the country. They just bought Knight Ridder and all those local newspapers, some of which they sold right away.

This is a pure-play newspaper company - and a lot of their eggs are in large/medium metro areas - which are being slammed by the move by advertisers online and the impact of slowing car and home sales.
