This is a good overview of the company and the timber industry. There are a few more things that I would add. For example, being the largest private landowner in the US, what is the distribution of their holdings? Which states are they most active in? Also, inherent to this industry is constant legal and lobbying battles with local conservation and preservation interests, which tends to prolong projects, sometimes indefinetely and are an operating risk of running the business. Additionally, they cost money, albeit not that much, in the grand scheme of things. Also, does the firm have any plans for international expansion through acquisition of competitors? Lastly, given that the market is rather fragmented with few direct comparisons to Plum Creek, is it logical for the firm to purchase a rival to expand their manufacturing scope?
