Great cover article about RL in the recent Fortune magazine.

Business Overview

Please footnote all graphs and numerical tables.

The graph showing revenue growth is very fuzzy. It looks like it may need to be recreated. Needs more explanation around why RL is switching away from licensing.

Is Club Monaco, owned by RL?

Can you give an example of the difference in price between Polo's mass market brands and their more luxurious brands? Better yet, you may want to mention which retailer sales which. For instance Target sells one brand and Neiman Macrus selll another.

Please footnote the sources of the growth and revenue numbers.

Trends and Forces

I would suggest adding Department store consolidation and the department stores movement toward private label. You mention American living but you don't really explain that it is important because increasingly chains are demanding their own exclusive private label clothing.

Other comments

Don't forget to link through out the entire article. Always link to major concepts like subprime lending, economic cycles, etc.

Please footnote all revenue numbers, metrics and graphs

I eliminated some of your trends and forces. While they were relevant, it's really important to pick a few external trends that are really important and spend the time to flesh them out.

Your economics trend needs some more work. Rather than listing 5 different things under this trend, try focusing on how economic conditions affect consumer spending. For instance, it is important to note, that a significant portion of retail spending on clothes is discretionary. People often buy clothes because they want them not because they need them. When economic conditions worsen, people become more conservative in their spending. In 2007 for instance, subprime troubles and rising gas prices contributing significantly to a rising economy. The former resulted in an increase in consumers overall expenses reducing discretionary income, while the subprime fallout, resulted in tightening credit standards and less access to easy credit for consumers.
