You really need to more clearly say that radio shack has ventured away from it's core business, and into markets that the big box stores are much better at. Phones, stereos, tvs, etc, why would you buy them at radio shack? Then, all their "cheesy"/cheap brands are a joke. Thier days are numbered if they expect to go toe to toe with walmart and best buy

The article is a good overview of RadioShack. The company is in a bit of a quandary. Currently, there is a recession looming in the background of the US economy and this has affected all retailers, including RadioShack. The other problem is that the magic that the new CEO was supposed to perform has been mostly done, and now that the operation is more efficient, the company has to sell some products. It is unlikely, in my opinion, that the company could revive due to one product, but will have to find more winning products to draw customers to their stores. This is especially true given the decreased advertising budgets that have been instituted. The company needs to establish new relationships with consumer electronics companies and find new products to sell successfully. It might also mean that a revamp of their stores is in order. All of this is likely to require a different leader than Julian Day, who is known for restructuring and streamlining companies rather than rebranding.
