I think I might have read these same words somewhere else. We all know what banks generally do. I would be more interested in some financial numbers and the company's plans for growth in the region. What sets it apart from other banks in Australia or the region? It appears the stock price has fallen significantly since this was written. Has it fallen to the subprime mess, or are there other factors? Using the WikiCharts is a good way to update the news on a company.

Good intro to the company. Though the company may not be very much exposed to the subprime mess that are plaguing its US and European brethren, I would hesitate to say that their future is that bright. The Australian economy is on the brink of a downward change with rising inflation. The company has benefitted from a strong economic times in New Zealand and Australia over the last decade and a half. However, it has not made as much effort in expanding north into Asia as its archrival ANZ Bank. Thus it is likely that the firm will be more at the whim of the Australian economy than some other banks in Australia.
