For disambiguation, we have a system very similar to Wikipedia's. For some very commonly used terms, we can create a landing page with links to all the possible pages. With a search term like "delta", however, there's a pretty good chance that the person's looking for DAL, so we automatically redirect to the DAL page. From there, we put a link at the top to either the disambiguation page or the other possible meanings of the term, if there are only one or two. Now that we have another mature page with "delta" in the title, we've done this at the top of the DAL page.
And thanks for noticing the contributor points. It turns out there's some bigger problem going on, and we've got the tech team on it now. Good eye.
