British American Tobacco Industries (BTI)Stock (Cigarettes Industry, Consumer Products Industry)BAT was founded in 1902 and is the world's second-largest tobacco group after Altria Group Inc. and sells cigarettes in more than 180 countries. The company has over 300 brands in its portfolio and makes cigarettes chosen by one in six of the world's one billion adult smokers. BAT has 17.1% market share globally and holds robust market positions in each of its regions and has leadership in more than 50 countries. BAT's subsidiary companies produce some 689 billion cigarettes through 52 cigarette factories in 44 countries and have four separate factories in four countries manufacturing cigars, roll-your-own and pipe tobacco. BAT produces and markets a wide and diverse range of brands to suit consumers' preferences, with a particular focus on four Global Drive Brands (GDBs) Dunhill, Kent, Lucky Strike and Pall Mall. The company employs over 55,000 people worldwide. In 2006, the company generated approximately GPB25.2bn ($50.4bn) in gross revenues and GBP9.7bn ($19.4bn) in net revenues (after exercise duties and taxes) and GBP2bn ($4.2bn) in net profit.
