A bushel is a unit of dry (non-liquid) measure used in the United States primarily as a standard measure for Grain Commodities equal to 2150.42 cubic inches. Though the derivation of the bushel is from a volume measurement, bushels are typically determined by weight for specific commodities. Since different commodities have different densities, the mass of a bushel differs from commodity to commodity. In general, bushels of commodities weigh as follows:
- 1 Bushel of Oats: 32 pounds
- 1 bushel of Corn: 56 pounds
- 1 bushel of Wheat: 60 pounds
- 1 bushel of Soybeans: 60 pounds
