Desalination is the process of removing salt from sea water for the purpose of creating fresh water. A report by Lux Research has estimated that the worldwide desalination-provided water will triple between 2008 and 2020.
Desalination plants are located around the world, typically near an ocean or salty body of water. Two existing desalination plants in the US are located in Tampa, FL and El Paso, TX.
(insert graph of water derived from desalination by current projects and then by expected projects?)
