Dividend Yield
A ratio that measures how much a company pays out in dividends each year relative to its share price. Dividend yield is calculated as Annual Dividends per Share/Price per Share = Dividend Yield This is the return on investment on a stock in the absence of capital gains (money made from buying and selling the stock). Dividend yield is a measurement of the cash flow an investor is getting for every dollar invested in stocks. An investor who needs a minimum amount of cash from their portfolio can accomplish this by investing in stocks that pay relatively high, stable dividend yields. Source: Investopedia.com |
