A duopoly refers to an industry chiefly composed of two dominant companies. Examples include Coke vs. Pepsi in the cola market, Boeing vs. Airbus within the aircraft manufacturing industry, or even the Democrats and Republicans within American politics. A duopoly is the simplest form of the oligopoly, or a market governed by more than one business.
