Vanguard Extended Duration Treasury ETF (EDV)
Overview
Vanguard Extended Duration Treasury ETF is an exchange-traded share class of Vanguard Extended Duration Treasury Index Fund. The fund employs a “passive management”—or indexing—investment approach designed to track the performance of the Barclays Capital U.S. Treasury STRIPS 20–30 Year Equal Par Bond Index. This index measures the investment return of Treasury STRIPS, coupon and principal, with maturities ranging from 20 to 30 years. A Treasury STRIP represents a single coupon payment, or a single principal payment, from a U.S. Treasury security that has been “stripped” into separately tradable components. Investment policy
- The fund will invest at least 80% of its assets in the U.S. Treasury securities held in its target index.
- The fund reserves the right to substitute a different index for the index it currently tracks if the current index is discontinued, if the fund’s agreement with the sponsor of its target index is terminated, or for any other reason determined in good faith by the fund’s board of trustees. In any such instance, the substitute index would measure a market segment similar to the current index.
- The fund may invest in derivatives. In general, derivatives may involve risks different from, and possibly greater than, those of the fund’s other investments.
