The number of airplanes in the airline's fleet.

This number includes all aircraft the company owns or leases. The larger the fleet size, the more Available Seat Miles (ASM) or capacity an airline has available to sell to passengers. However, higher maintenance expenses usually accompany larger fleets as well so fleet size does not provide a useful comparison between airlines.
