Houston Wire & Cable Company (HWCC), is a non commodity specialty distributor of wire and cable used in a diverse set of markets including utility and industrial companies in North America. Founded in 1975, HWCC is one of the largest distributors in the US market. It has 11 sales and distribution centers.
Brought public by Code Hennessy and Simons and primarily underwritten by William Blair, the initial success was influenced by reconstruction activity caused by devastation from hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma. HWCC went public to eliminate most of its debt and open access to other capital markets to fund growth.
