Non-operating income is profits a company earns from sources other than its core business.

Non-operating income can include any gains the company earned on its investments, foreign currency exchange profits, and more.

Investors usually subtract out non-operating income when evaluating a company, as most non-operating income tends to be one-time only, and can't be counted on in the future.
