- London exchange is terms where a lot of money has been shipped - this would be a good place for us to focus

- Generally thinks news = noise because emotional trading is destined to fail
- Seen so many bad trades based on news
- Can we have an individual who works at the company post their press release on our site first? This would prevent unnecessary market swings.

Intro: Community Manager and Geschäftsführerin at ASPM GmbH (my company)
ASPM starts using and hosting Wiki (Mediawiki) on August 2004.
ASPM hosts and runs public wikis and private access wikis for single customers as their "Brain 2.0"
I have a portfolio as my father and grandfather used to have. My grandfather had a booknote to follow the shares rates, my father an excel spreadsheet and I go in the clouds.
I am a Consigliere because John Moore asks me and
because I feel that Financial sector had to go ahead into web2.0, semantic web, dynamic visualization...customer oriented habits, conversation through social media
- Emails as a "push tool" (Bulls and Bears emails) : Great! What about a Twitter Wikinvest account?
- Blog : great tool as a complement to the wiki.
- WikiChart and Bulls and Bears are the true "identity" of wikinvest: they are really valuable tools. So Up-to-Date news must generate WikiChart and Bulls and Bears
- Search engine in Mediawiki is amazing :
- Why wikinvest do not show the Result Page for each search? Help to find what is relevant for you and eventually shows you other topics which might have some interests for you.
- Yes it woulld be great to add in the top level navigation : Currencies - Stock Markets - Personal Finance.
- Save search as Amazon.com (the online bookstore) does is great. Amazon.com is a good example of a customer oriented and web oriented website.
- Exchange to prioritize in Europe : London and Frankfurt.
- Wiki syntax is really "poor" and this is GOOD. No point to have 25 edit buttons if the one thing important is TO WRITE something, not to put it in bold. How may edit tools from Microsoft Word are you using each time you write a document?
- Why not open a wiki for the Consiglieres? A wiki to follow the project, to put arguments, to save the conference call chats and document as the presentation.
Emails are not "community oriented" tools...

- Bulls/Bears Emails
- If you're referring to the occasional email I'm seeing with some companies with new or expanded coverage and your invitation for us to comment in bullish/bearish fashion, then yes, I've received a couple of those (if those aren't the emails, then no). I like them for the most part, it seems like a nice way to get the group interested in companies that we might not otherwise come into contact with and also increase analysis and projections postings. The bulls/bears postings are really very interesting to me, not only do you get a variety of perspectives on an issue, but you also get a feel for what posters feel is important relative to other posters.
- Wikinvest Open
- The list seems to be attempting some activity, I've seen recent items come through with regards to commodities articles and some specific questions, as it's new I wouldn't necessarily think that most people will jump on the bandwagon. I suppose a thought would be to incorporate more of a Project Central attitude with you posting suggested articles or companies that Wikinvest would like to see covered sooner rather than later. Then the list could jumpstart those pages from a more vested background giving newer users something to work with as they get more involved. Other than that, I think it's working well already with users asking broad questions and maybe finding some assistance from the others on the list.
- Daily Angle
- I like the blog a lot, it's definitely the way to go with staying connected with a digital audience in terms of subscriptions and engaged readers. The blogosphere is quite simply thriving on individual takes of everything and so there's no reason why the wikinvest community shouldn't also have a share of that, in fact, given a robust user group I wouldn't be surprised if you don't soon have people who would be interested in financial/investing blogs hosted in the wikinvest domain.
- News Integration
- With news integration it seems like you've got the potential to quash user driven coverage by superseding it with automated coverage, but I can see the incorporation driving otherwise absent user interaction. I like it in principle, but wouldn't want to see it eat up user chart annotations, or created bulls and bears complacency. I guess I'm saying that news integration should remain relatively low-impact to preserve the integrity of the wiki-environment. Perhaps like the WikiData it can be ajaxed into the bottom of the company page as sort of a ticker/rss aggregator of current keyword-relevant news. That way a contributor won't feel dwarfed by the news coverage, but perhaps be energized to include the news item into their analysis or coverage.
- Site Searching
- I've found the site to a be, at times, a little difficult to search, but for the most part it's okay. It feels like it's just the search methods that are problematic and not the search itself. When I'm looking for a stock or company it works fine, but searching categories or keywords tends to work a little less well. I like the top menu structure as it is, however the addition of Commodities and Currencies would add an ease of use. Regarding advanced searches, etc., it seems like you'll always have some power users who are interested in such items, but given average use I don't know that there's a large need for advanced search engine capability rather than a more intuitive search and results interface.
- Foreign Markets
- I do not currently have any investment in foreign companies or on any foreign, index though generally I'll follow the other markets to see what American market fluctuations cascade across the pond. I suppose if I had to venture a guess as to what major market index to include in an expansion I would offer the FTSE and the Nikkei 225. It would be a natural expansion of the site to begin including other markets and it would certainly bode well for a broad international user appeal.

- Some ideas for wikinvest
- Investment Definition of the day (a small box on main page below The Daily Angle)
- Just like Word for the day, or quote for the day, we can have a daily definition of a word from finance dictionary. Examples: Call, Put, Option, Future, Forward, Triple Witch, and so on.
- Sorting of search results
- If there are more than one search results, there should be a combo box allowing the visitor to sort the results by relevance, by length, by last updated, by geography, etc.
- Debates?
- Should we have a special section where some interesting topic can be posted for a debate? The section will allow visitors to list down their arguments for or against the topic. It syncs with wikiinvest's overall approach of Bulls vs. Bears, and extends the idea from stocks to wider range of topics like "Is Capitalism better for economy than Socialism?", "Should health industry be nationalised?", "Should big firms be allowed to go bankrupt?", etc.
Alan Brochstein
- On the "News Product", I am not sure if it is push or on the website, but it seems fruitless to provide what already easily exists with Google's News Alerts
- While I don't have a particular need for Forex or Intl stocks, this would be an area of differentiation and would fill a void in the market from what I can tell
- I don't mind the editing process. It is stable and not complex
