A polymer is a large molecule made of many repeating small parts linked together in a chain-like structure. The number of units (also known as monomers) can vary from a few hundreds to a few million, depending on the polymer.

Common examples of polymers include DNA, proteins, rubber (natural polymers or biopolymers), as well as polystyrene, nylon, and PVC (synthetic polymers).
