Template:Population Growth
The world’s population is growing faster than ever. As of March 1, 2008 there was an estimated 6.8 billion people on Earth. Twenty years from now there will be an estimated 9.1 billion people on Earth; a growth of 2.3 billion people.
The population of the world is extremely important. It affects pollution, global warming, social issues, industrialization, and global economies. Many companies are already global and multi-national companies. In the next 20 years it is easy to believe that most large corporations will be global and every company will be impacted by enormous population growth.
More importantly than just the numbers are the age groups that will be forming. The additional people will all be young. The younger generation is thought of as the driving force in many families as to major decisions and as to what consumer products are bought for the household. The older generations will be getting older and living longer driving the pharmaceutical industry.
The growing population will also increase the need for basic forms of energy. Old forms of energy will need to be converted into new forms that are capable of supporting the huge numbers of people demanding energy.
The economy will be greatly affected and the stock market will be affected. The target markets will only increase and the number of possible consumers is only getting larger. Companies are looking for ways to capitalize on the population growth and new companies will be created on ideas based on this issue.
