SII serves the Oil Exploration and Production industry through four segments. 1) drilling fluid systems, 2) solids control, 3) waste containment, and 4) instruments that allow rig operators to monitor progress. It also produces drill bits and turbines.

Drilling activity north of the equator has been active, and especially in Middle East and Asia regions.

Land based oil and gas drilling activity goes through a normal cycle, which has been on the slower side recently. The pace of production on land is also influenced by weather.

Business expansion is primarily funded from cash from operations.
