Sutherland Asset Management (NYSE:SLD) is a newly-formed real estate investment trust (REIT) that intends to acquire residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS), residential mortgage loans, asset-backed securities and other financial assets. The company will be externally managed and advised by Waterfall Asset Management, LLC ("the Manager") with the help of M.D. Sass Investor Services ("M.D. Sass"). The Manager and M.D. Sass together have $3.2 billion of total assets under management (AUM), including $1.5 billion of agency MBS and $1.4 billion of ABS, non-agency MBS and loan assets. Because the company is a newly-formed entity, it has no prior operating history. The company's initial public offering (IPO) of stock is scheduled for 3 August 2009. It plans to sell 16.7 million shares at $15.00 per share to raise a total of $250 million.
