Interesting and enlightening article. I would venture to guess that most of the attention on the FDA is focused on its approval/rejection of various drugs, and not on its monitoring of food products and dietary supplements. So, I think this is a great overview of the agency and its various functions. It makes sense to add a section of links to the largest drug and food companies that essentially make their profits from the whims of the FDA . Also, given recent media attention to GMO (Genetically Modified Organism) foods, what does the FDA have to say about it and what kind of an effect does that have on food production methods in the US? Recent news proclaimed that the FDA proclaimed that food products from cloned animals is deemed safe for human consumption. Who stands to benefit? Lastly, how is the FDA board of directors elected and structured?
